Osame no Daishi
There are three great Buddhist temples in Japan. Sano Temple in Tochigi
Prefecture, Kawasaki Temple in Kanagawa Prefecture and Nishi Arai Temple
in Adachi-ku. The Buddhist Saint Koubou established Nishi Arai Daishi in
the year 826.
On the 21st of every month a fair is held in the area of Nishi Arai
Daishi and many people come to visit the temple and stalls. The last fair
day of every year is held on the 21st of December and is known as 'Osame
no Daishi'.
