About Us

AC Mobility began operations in 1993 designing and manufacturing electric wheelchairs and related accessories.

• First to have product meet the new wheelchair performance standards AS 3695 in 1994
• Implemented Quality Assurance ISO9002 in 1997
• Upgraded to ISO9001:2000

Adult wheelchairs
Products started in adult area with several models,

• first generation chair was the Senator
• the second generation chairs included the Gazelle, Jaguar and the Lynx models
• the highly versatile Traxx represents our third generation of electric wheelchair products

We have always had a strong emphasis on the customized wheelchair segment, developing many chairs for individual clients requiring special

•  seat widths
•  seat depths
•  seat heights
•  special purpose backrests
•  customized controller brackets
•  and other items specifically for the individual person

In 1999 this focus lead us to carry out field reviews with adult wheelchair users, the families and carers of wheelchair users, physiotherapists and occupational therapists involved in the care and prescription of electric wheelchairs for clients. Based on the insights we gained, criteria were set for a new electric wheelchair and the Traxx was born in 2000.

Wheelchairs for children
Through our association with the manufacture of customized postural seating for children, we began the development for the Little Ripper range of chairs for children in 1999. Based on our market research with the families and carers of wheelchair users, physiotherapists and occupational therapists involved in the care and prescription of paediatric wheelchairs, criteria were set for a chair that would not only be pleasing to the eye but would also allow a great deal of growth in the seating system to accommodate the growth of the child. Many aspects were considered, such as the use of different seating systems, the ability to transfer the seating system between manual and electric chairs, the use of a variety of controller systems, special accessories and transport access.

Falcon Rehabilitation Products, Inc
An association with Falcon Rehabilitation Products, Inc of Denver, Colorado USA was begun in 2000, resulting in the joint venture to develop a number of wheelchair and seating products for the US and Australian markets. The high performance Falcon seating systems on the Traxx base have resulted. New products are scheduled for release in 2004.

The Falcon range of gel protective products is now available in Australia. These include

•  gel footplate covers
•  gel armrest protectors

Gel troughed armrests are scheduled for release in 2004.
