ShadeGrip is a product designed exclusively to solve the problem of fastening flexible materials, such as Shade Cloth, firmly to a desired structure.
Traditional methods such as nails, battens, eyelets and ties lack strength and can damage the material. ShadeGrip ensures that the Shade Cloth is drum tight and will withstand the strongest winds.
ShadeGrip can easily be used to create Shade or Privacy Screens and Pegola Covers. Installation begins with the attaching of the desired lengths of ShadeGrip directly to the fence or Pergola. Similar lengths are then attached to the eaves in the case of a Shade or Privacy Screen.
The material is now folded around the plastic Keeper and pushed into the aluminium channel of the ShadeGrip. The material can be easily tightened or released entirely by pulling on the surplus edge of the fabric, ensuring a drum tight finish.
How to use ShadeGrip
Attach ShadeGrip to structure with self drilling or other screws 250 to 300mm (10" - 12") apart depending on installation.
Fold the edge of the fabric around the plastic 'V' Keeper and push both into the metal channel using the insertion tool.For neatness, the loose edge can be trimmed to about 25mm (1") and tucked into the channel.
WRONG!! Do not insert this way. Loose edge must always be at the hook.
Fabric can be tightened or released by pulling the loose edge. Push the Keeper back in.
The basic principle behind the V-Grip system is as brilliant as it is simple. First the fabric is snubbed around the apex of the Keeper as a sailor would snub a rope around a bollard. This increases the effectiveness of the holding force.
Then, the fabric is clamped between the 'hook' and the end of the Keeper using the pulling force on the fabric itself. Hence, the gripping force is always proportional to but greater than the pulling force.
